CUSTOMIZING A COLLECTION RUG

We've just released two new collections and now that every little design detail has been agonized over until perfection was achieved, here we are talking about how you can change these designs to meet the needs of your client.

Browsing our collections online, or at one of our retailers, is often the perfect starting point for the interiors professional. However, as one design starts to capture your attention, complications start to pop up: "It's not quite the right grey." "The position of that motif doesn't work with the placement of the coffee table." "We had talked about a border." "The design is perfect but the traffic is too heavy for handknotted and silk." Do not be disheartened, it is often possible to modify a collection design in colour, size, quality, and even the design itself.

COLOUR

Colour is often one of the simpler changes, particularly if you have colours you need to match and want to swap in a different colour range. We can also reduce the number of colours to subdue a design or increase them for more adornment. We always request samples from the mill to ensure we, and you, are happy with how the new colours appear once they are woven together in the wool and silk.

SIZE

The collection rugs are initially available in six standard rectangular sizes but often the designs reemerge in runners, circles or even multi-sided wall-to-wall carpeting for complex spaces.

QUALITY

All our collection pieces are initially designed in handknotted wool and silk. Sometimes clients are looking for more luxe, more silk. Other times silk isn't appropriate for the traffic conditions.

DESIGN

Unless we are talking about a geometric, our Collection rugs are rarely repeat patterns. Consequently, we modify a design every time we prepare it for a different size of rug so the design will sit perfectly within its dimensions. Changing the scale of the design is second nature to our designers. Other possible changes include zooming in and cropping out a portion of a design, or adding another layer or texture to an existing design. Sometimes we use a collection design as a starting point but end up with something very different.
